Hurricane Beryl Turns Into TopLevel Category 5 Storm After Making Landfall | Firstpost Earth

Hurricane Beryl devastated the Windward Islands, killing at least one. The storm also swept through southeastern Caribbean nations. Heavy rains and devastating winds hit Grenada's Carriacou island. The hurricane also lashed St. George's in Grenada. The authorities had declared a state of emergency in the country. The US National Hurricane Centre (NHC) said the lifethreatening storm also impacted St. Vincent & the Grenadines. The impact on Barbados was comparatively lower than other nations. However, the storm disrupted power lines disrupted and uprooted trees. Jamaica and the Cayman Islands are now bracing for the hurricane’s impact. Beryl strengthened into a toplevel category 5 storm after hitting the islands. The NHC has said that Beryl is the second category 5 hurricane in the Atlantic after Emily in 2005. It is also the earliest category 5 storm in the Atlantic on record.
