This was the first dispatch I got after Hurricane Helene passed through the night before. Kinda ironic that the boat brand name is what caused the demise of this boat…Anyways, it’s a nice easy pump out to start off what will become the craziest week since I’ve started working as towboat captain.
While we like this kind of work, my heart goes out to all those affected by the storm and the utter devastation it has caused to so many people’s lives.

AIGenerated Description:
In this video, I tackle my first dispatch after the powerful Hurricane Helene swept through the region just the night before. It's a bit ironic that the boat I’m called to rescue shares the same name as the storm responsible for its demise. While this particular job turns out to be a fairly straightforward pumpout, it marks the start of what will undoubtedly be the craziest week I’ve ever had as a towboat captain.
This job is just the tip of the iceberg, as the aftermath of the hurricane has left countless vessels stranded, damaged, or destroyed. As someone who works on the water, this type of work is both challenging and rewarding, but the scope of devastation is truly heartbreaking. My heart goes out to all those whose lives have been deeply affected by the storm. The damage to homes, businesses, and entire communities is overwhelming, and this video is a small glimpse into the destruction left in its wake.
Throughout the week, I’ll be documenting more rescues and sharing the unique and often unexpected challenges we face as towboat operators. While I love the work we do and the problemsolving nature of these situations, it’s impossible not to feel the weight of the larger crisis happening around us.
If you're interested in the behindthescenes of what it’s like working as a towboat captain during natural disasters, stay tuned as more videos will follow this one. It’s going to be an intense and emotional week on the water, and I want to bring you along for the journey.
Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more stories from the water and updates on what it takes to work through these challenging times.
