This presentation by Ali Reza Payandeh describes how to use Delft3D 4 modeling suite to run a hydrodynamic model using a test case from the Atchafalaya region in coastal Louisiana, including the Wax Lake and Atchafalaya deltas. The tutorial demonstrates how to set up a hydrodynamic model for river deltas, where both tidal and river discharge influences are significant. Guidance includes (1) how to install Delft3D; (2) how to use the Delft3D Dashboard to set up a hydrodynamic model; (3) how to make boundary conditions; (4) how to adjust bottom friction (Chezy numbers) based on vegetation maps; (5) how to run a model in the Delft3D main menu; and (6) how to utilize Delft3D QUICKPLOT to analyze the results.
