Follow
Scholars and Publics

In this public conversation from July 16, 2020, about I Am Not Your Negro, Raoul Peck's awardwinning documentary film on James Baldwin, scholars Duchess Harris, Alyssa Goldstein Sepinwall, and Neil Roberts join moderator Christopher CurmiHall of the New York City Department of Education to discuss questions and pedagogical avenues raised by the film. The Zoom discussion followed an online watch party and #docuhistory Twitter conversation about the film moderated by Sepinwall and Joe Schmidt.

The #docuhistory series aims to create an informal space where teachers, students, and historians can join together to watch a documentary and discuss teaching and learning about the film's subject matter. The series is organized by Joe Schmidt in collaboration with the Forum for Scholars and Publics at Duke.
