"I fell into a basement fighting my first house fire."

It was January, 2015 when Galang responded to his first house fire. Upon entry, the floor collapsed beneath him. He fell more than seven feet and landed on his back on the dark basement floor below. He attempted to climb out to safety on his own, but lost both of his gloves while trying to get out. His hands, arms, head and calves started to burn as his life flashed before his eyes. Galang suffered second and third degree burns and spent three weeks in the hospital.

He spent the next year, dealing with his physical injuries and mental scars. Since then, he has been fighting to break the stigma of seeking mental health services.
