I Bought a 14th Century Manuscript Leaf! // (details of a medieval gothic psalter)

Yep, this is how I spend my money. In a 700 yearold piece of ink and animal skin. Don't take financial advice from me, dear friends.

But seriously, I am over the moon with this! It is an English 14th century Medieval illuminated manuscript leaf, previously belonging to a psalter book commissioned for private use. Due to it being the official language of the church, it is written in Latin. The details in the marginalia, miniature, capital letters and line fillers are an absolute delight. As well as, of course, the wonder of this Gothic calligraphy, which I can safely assume was written with iron gall ink.

This manuscript leaf was acquired from Phillip J. Pirages: Fine Books and Medieval Manuscripts (www.pirages.com). Their book selection and customer service is as high quality as a dinner cooked with spices during the 14th century.
