Join me on a profoundly personal journey into my family's past in this special episode of Adventures into History. Together with historian Cecil Young, we visit the resting places of my ancestors, tracing back to my 5th greatgrandparents.

Our journey begins at the secluded Hewett Cemetery, perched on a steep hill, where we pay our respects to James and Nellie Hewett, my 5th greatgrandparents. We take the time to clean their graves and explore the history of the other two graves at this intimate family site.

Next, we travel to another Hewett Cemetery down the road, home to my 4th greatgrandparents, Pernell Willis Hewett and Elizabeth. This larger cemetery also holds the grave of my 3rd greatgrandmother, Susan Joiner, among many other distant relatives.

We conclude our pilgrimage at the grave of Susan's husband, Shady Joiner, my 3rd greatgrandfather, taking a moment to clean his grave and reflect on the legacy left behind.
