"Listen, Tamer, the company is going through a tough time financially right now and we have to downsize and let some people go…and unfortunately you’re one of them...but know this is not performancebased."

Those were the exact words that my Senior manager told me on Friday, November 18th when I was let go from my dream job as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Serve Robotics. These words have been replaying in my head for the last few days. Although they reiterated it was NOT performancebased, I can't help but feel shocked and lost due to the nature of this unexpected round of layoffs that affected me and my former coworkers.
