I Quit Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail | PCT 2023 // After hiking 981 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail this year, I decided to end my hike and come back home to the PNW.

In this video, I’ll explain why I decided to end my hike this year in Mammoth Lakes and share with you some of my plans for hiking the PCT again next year.

There were many reasons that went into making this decision and it wasn’t an easy one to make. I’ve spent the last 200+ miles thinking about how I wanted to tackle the Sierra section, what I would do if conditions changed and took time to assess my comfort level with the conditions I was willing to deal with while I was out there on trail by myself in some of the most remote sections of the entire PCT.

Here’s why I quit the Pacific Crest Trail in Mammoth Lakes and came home.
