Manila is a megacity unlike any other in Asia. It’s got a rawness that other cities in the region simply don’t have. While most of the city is relatively harmless, there are a few areas that Filipinos will insist you never visit. The ports. The old city. Tondo.

As always, I thought it’d be more interesting to go find out myself. Before that, I’d stop in Binondo, the world’s “oldest Chinatown”. I’d also get my first chance to ride a jeepney. Little did I know, my ticket into the hood was an invitation to a basketball game.
