Throughout history, humans have been captivated by mythology, those riveting tales of romance, tragedy, heroism, and miraculous acts of the divine. We're drawn to these stories because they resonate with our deepest desires for wonder and meaning. I Interestingly, even when we discover that something we once believed is not entirely accurate, we often choose to cling to the myth. It seems we're reluctant to relinquish the enchantment of mystery and prefer the allure of the unknown over stark reality. Isn’t that funny?? Sometimes.. we just can’t handle the truth:

Besides being one of the most recognized faces and voices in Rock history, Ozzy Osborne is the subject of many myths & misconceptions. The Godfather of Metal has been accused of be a Satanist, which he is not. Many people have bought the claim that Ozzy left Black Sabbath in ’79 to pursue a solo career, but the truth is that he was fired. The most famous Urban Legend about Ozzy is the one that gave cemented his legacy as the Prince of Darkness….the one about Ozzy biting a live bat while performing on stage. Did that really happen? Yes….and No… Like most myths, it is not entirely accurate.

Ozzy Osbourne has always had a flair for the outrageous, but his wild stage antics took a unique turn thanks to his love for old slapstick movies. In the documentary The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne, he reminisced about those classic custardpie fights, like in the Old Three Stooges episodes, that always cracked him up. “It gave me this idea,” Ozzy explained, “to swap the pies for something a little more... memorable.” So instead of whipped cream and crusts, Ozzy took to tossing bits of meat and animal parts into the crowd, finding it absolutely hilarious.

The fans, ever eager to participate in the madness, didn’t hold back. They hurled sheep testicles, live snakes, and even dead rats right back at the stage. But one moment stood out above the rest. “Someone once threw a live frog onto the stage,” Ozzy recalled, still sounding amazed. “It was the biggest frog I’d ever seen, and it landed on its back.” Only at an Ozzy show could such bizarre mayhem unfold, turning every concert into an unpredictable, almost surreal spectacle. It all went down in January of '82, Ozzy Osbourne brought his electrifying Diary of a Madman Tour to Des Moines, Iowa's Veterans Memorial Auditorium. Little did he know, this night would go down in rock 'n' roll history for reasons beyond his music.
