Ice used after an injury or surgery can help control pain, swelling, and inflammation. It may help with regaining range of motion following a total knee. Too much ice, especially applied directly to the skin, can cause damage. Options on icing include a bag filled with ice, a reusable ice pack, or an ice machine.
