Our second attempt to complete the Iceberg Lake Trail was still chaotic, but we had success!

Hiking in Canada has been one of the highlights of our Summer in the Canadian Rockies however, it hasn’t come without its challenges! Bow Lake, located along the Icefields Parkway, about an hour out of Lake Louise, has some incredible views, easy trails and challenging hikes. This was our second attempt to complete the Iceberg Lake Trail from Bow Lake.

It is one of the most incredible hiking trails with waterfalls we have seen, but also one of the most challenging, taking us two attempts to complete! This trail takes you up to the top of the Bow Glacier Falls to Iceberg Lake, hidden behind the popular Bow Lake (you wouldn’t even know it was there unless you completed this hike).

We learnt to navigate the trail using our All Trails map, which has been our life saver while hiking in Canada. If you are a novice hiker like us, we highly recommend investing in this app. Although we got lost, it was the app that always helped us get back on path and home safely!

We recommend that you pack your hiking boots, hiking poles and good hiking socks to keep your feet warm and protected if you plan to do this hike in Alberta, along with a hiking backpack with a towel, water and snack (we recommend cliff bars).
