After dreaming of visiting Iceland for ages, my partner and I finally made it a reality in June 2023, traveling 17,000 km from Australia.

Stepping onto the land I had only seen in my favourite scifi movies felt surreal!

This comprehensive Iceland Ring Road Itinerary aims to cut down your research time and help you make the most of your own Icelandic adventure.

Whether you’re planning your first trip or looking to revisit Iceland, our itinerary and tips will ensure you have an unforgettable experience.


ABOUT THIS RING ROAD ITINERARY

This itinerary is ideal if you plan to rent a standard campervan, as it avoids all FRoads and is suitable for non4WD vehicles.

Iceland’s Ring Road spans 1,322 km, but with at least 10 days, you can extend your trip to include destinations like the Golden Circle, Reykjanes Peninsula, Snaefellsnes Peninsula, or Húsavík, creating a 2,000 km loop.

Reflecting on our journey, I can confidently say that 10 days provided ample time to explore the main highlights of Iceland’s Ring Road.

However, as an enthusiast of day hikes and more indepth exploration beyond typical tourist spots, I would add a few extra days to the itinerary if I had the chance to do it again.
