“If you love them, let them go. If they come back, they’re yours forever, but if they don’t come back they were never yours to begin with...”

This phrase often comes from wellmeaning friends or family who love you, see the pain in your relationship, and don't want you to get hurt. And while they’re wellmeaning, this just isn't true.

For example, if your spouse is chasing after something (or someone) and it could cause them and others a lot of pain and hurt, you love them enough to rescue them.

Now is there anything you need to let go of? Well, yes. If you love someone, you need to let go of CONTROLLING them. Don't say, “If that’s what makes you happy, go do it.” Instead, accept where they're at. Don’t control and don't cling. Do the right things to stand for your marriage...

And, don’t just give up! There are certain principles you CAN do to create a possibility (and, in some cases, a probability) for your spouse to come back and save your relationship.

Hear this: if a couple comes THROUGH a major crisis, and makes their marriage good again, their marriage is stronger and better than before! Not what it "was" before you don’t want it to be what it was. You want it stronger and better!

So, if you love someone, you might need to let go of control, and your expectations, but don’t let go of them.
