Mute radio or remove headset when calling Clearance Delivery to hear them.
Know crossing altitudes on requested approaches
Stay ahead of the airplane, to include setting up the radios
Press squelch button to hear distant, scratchy AWOS
Be prepared for unexpected frequencies
Provide correct call sign
Requested an IFR pickup in flight (our filed flight plan wasn’t found)
Try not to get tongue tied when attempting to read back approach instructions
