This is a brief introduction to igneous rocks and how to identify them in a hand specimen. Rock types included are peridotite, basalt, andesite, granite, pegmatite, scoria, pumice, and obsidian. This is a smaller than usual set of rocks that we teach students in our introductory geology course at Olivet Nazarene University, simplified down for online lab use.
