For as popular as it is in fiction, the 'battlecarrier' concept was only really attempted, properly, one time. The Iseclass battleships, refit into...less than ideal hybrid warships.

This video will focus on the second ship, Hyūga. This ship had a run of bad luck even before the rebuild. In fact, it was her final bout of bad luck a wrecked turret that likely led to her rebuild.

A rebuild that turned an admittedly obsolescent battleship, into a kinda bad hybrid. A battleship with a giant, flaming, weakpoint on the stern. An aircraft carrier that couldn't recover her own planes.

Not the best idea, though I can understand the logic behind the decision.
