To escape war and/or poverty, more and more migrants are risking their lives to reach the socalled European El Dorado. For ten months, journalists followed two groups of illegal immigrants on their way to France, one from Cameroon and the other from Kabul, in Afghanistan. To reach Italy, the first group must cross the Mediterranean aboard a makeshift rowboat. The Afghans left Kabul on foot for an odyssey of several thousand kilometers in the mountains. A look back at their journey and an investigation into the smuggler networks, who are getting rich off their backs.
