10 years ago I saw my first IMAX 3D underwater movie. I was blown away! I've been diving for 44 years and taking still pictures and video for 30. In my opinion, 3D video is the ultimate format for underwater photography. Seen on a large home theater or movie screen, it's the closest thing to being there.
After my first experience with underwater 3D 10 years ago, I was determined to someday have the equipment to shoot my own. This year (2013) I finally made it happen!
This was all shot in native 3D and is not a post production conversion with the exception of the whale shark scene which was shot by my friend Buzz "Doc" Wauters who had his GoPro, snorkel, and fins at the ready when the whale shark was spotted. I plunged in with him but my rig didn't have a wide enough angle lens for the task.
For people who don't have the ability to watch this in 3D which is probably most people this video can be watched in 2D. But, in my opinion, you will be missing something.
