I left Dili at 8:00 AM and headed south to the highlands. Dare Memorial, a museum about TimorLeste during WWII was closed and I proceeded to the city of Aileu, the center of proindependece party Fretilin during Indonesian occupation, where Portuguese fort and library can still be found and explored.
After lunch at Projeto Montanha Restaurant, next stop was Maubisse town in Ainaro Municipality with Portuguese hotel (Pousada de Maubisse) on the hill, overlooking the town.
On a way back I found traditional Timorese houses in the rural areas of TimorLeste.
