3 May 2024: A historic day in the history of French transport, the 8 km extension of the RER E to NanterrelaFolie was inaugurated on Friday 3 May 2024.

This extension will link Haussmann SaintLazare station to NanterrelaFolie in 12 minutes, with 3 new stations: NeuillyPorte Maillot, La Défense and NanterrelaFolie. This is the culmination of 8 years of work, studies and consultations that began in the 2000s. The three new stations have their own special features: NeuillyPorte Maillot is topped by a glass slab that lets in daylight right up to the platforms, La Défense is located 30 metres underground, beneath the CNIT, and NanterrelaFolie is equipped with 6 platform tracks on the outskirts of La Défense Aréna.

Since November 2023, the RER E, which is undergoing a complete transformation, has gradually been equipped with RER NG (Z58000) trains. The inaugural train was made up of trains Nos. 016K and 018K. Until the end of 2024, the extension will operate as a separate branch from Magenta to NanterrelaFolie from 10am to 4pm on weekdays, and until 8pm at weekends.

The next major milestone will be the opening of the extension to ManteslaJolie!
