In order to get a good pictureinpicture effect—or the familiar “TV news effect” where you can clearly see the presenter and the visuals complement or amplify the narration—try using the Zoom Virtual Background function (Background & Filters in Settings).

I think it is important to present yourself online, not as a small video in a box next to your slides, but in a way that students and other participants can see you and your visuals more clearly in the same frame. In this video, I show two ways to do it in Zoom. The first way is simply to export your slides as images and then import those images in the Virtual Background window (click the + button on the right) then you can simply click your mouse (or remote or arrow key) to advance to the next slide. The second way is to use the new feature in Zoom (v5.2.1) called “Slides as Virtual Background.” To access this feature, click on “Share Screen” then “Advanced” then you’ll see the “Slides as Virtual Background” feature in blue. At this time you can not do sound or transitions.
