India in Egypt: Global Spread of Indian Fraternities | Dr Tilak Ranjan Bera |

Sangam Talks

About The Talk:
The antiquity of Indian civilization is poorly understood at this point of time. We consider that Indian civilization could be one of the oldest civilizations of the world, if not the oldest. But we are unable to scientifically indicate the exact period of the origin of the Indian civilization.
At this juncture, analysis of the available genetic data of the Indian population and their connectivity with the rest of the world is extremely important. In fact, available genetic data suggests that post glacial period genetic identities like R1a, R1b, and Ohaplogroups spread from Indian subcontinent to the rest of Eurasia in the last 10,000 to 12,000 years. Spread of R1b haplogroup in Ychromosome from Bengal coast to the Mediterranean region can easily be arranged by analyzing the genetic distribution map. Dr Bera in this episode has made an attempt to explain the spread of the Indian fraternities in various directions with the help of scientific evidence including genetic data.

About The Speaker:

In the meantime, Dr Bera has explored Jordan, Israel, Turkey and Greece to collect evidence available in the Mediterranean region which establishes an early connectivity of the region with Indian civilization.
