Inside The $6 Million Cessna Citation M2 Gen2 Private Jet

0:00 Intro
The Cessna Citation M2 Gen2 is Textron Aviation’s lightest aircraft under the singlepilot 525series of planes, and features very significant upgrades both in the cabin and cockpit. Stay with us till the end of the video because here is everything you need to know about the M2 Gen2 by Cessna.

0:30 Cabin
The interior of the Gen2 features an enhanced cabin with premium interior styling, ambient accent lighting, remastered illuminated cupholders, and additional inflight accessible storage. While the maximum takeoff weight on the new M2 remains the same, the maximum passenger limit increases to seven, or eight total occupants including the pilot. Productivity has also been bolstered with the latest technology in the cabin, such as wireless charging capabilities and USBA ports at each cabin seat, and USBC ports in the club area.
The cabin of the plane is a classic Cessna. Starting from the front, the plane features a light refreshment center just behind the cockpit. The standard configuration features a sidefacing seat next to the light refreshment center. In place of this seat, customers can instead opt for additional storage. As a result, four large drawers can be implemented to increase luggage capacity.
Moving towards the aft of the aircraft you will find four seats in a club configuration, which are the focus of the cabin and are fully tracking swingout seats. In between these, you will find executive tables that stow away neatly. Cessna has managed to integrate eight large windows, which allow each passenger a great view and bring in a large amount of natural light.
At the very rear of the aircraft, passengers will find a belted flushing lavatory with a hard door, and, as mentioned previously, an additional 105 lbs or 48 kg of inflight accessible storage split between the back of the plane and behind the copilot seat, as the space for logbooks has been moved across the aisle from the original Citation M2. It is now between the entryway and the pilot seat, where a passenger seat can fold down for additional storage.
As to be expected from a modern business aircraft, the M2 Gen2 features an entertainment system Cessna calls Clarity, and the cabin management system can be controlled from your personal device. As a result, passengers can stay entertained during the flight by streaming audio and video. A moving map can also be viewed to keep you updated on your travel progress, and passengers can control the temperature and lighting of the cabin.

3:47 Cockpit
The cockpit has seen some upgrades as well, in fact, three inches of legroom have been added to the copilot position for enhanced comfort, as well as the GWX 8000 Storm Optix weather radar and automatic turbulence detection.
As with the original version, it comes equipped with the Garmin G3000 avionics suite. For pilots familiar with the G1000, the G3000 will seem very familiar. The magic behind the G3000 is that it uses small touch screens to navigate the display system’s menus instead of bezelmounted buttons or a stick cursor.
Other improvements to the cockpit are easier entry thanks to a lowered console, greater seat travel rearward, greater recline, and the elimination of the infamous rotarytest knob. You’ve also got a multifunction backup instrument on the glare shield, autopilot controls up there too, and backup display controllers in the highly unlikely event that the touch screens go out.

5:48 Engine and Performance
Talking about performance, the M2 Gen2 is powered by two rear fuselagemounted Williams FJ441AP21 engines, with a TBO of 5,000 hours and with each one producing 1,965 lbs of thrust. This combination is able to push the aircraft to a maximum speed of Mach 0.71, a maximum cruise speed of 404 knots and up to a maximum cruising altitude of 41,000 feet or 12.5 kilometers, with an average hourly fuel burn of 120 gallons or 455 liters per hour.
The M2 Gen2 has a maximum range of 1,550 nautical miles, which is 1,785 miles or 2,870 kilometers. The plane can take off in 3,210 feet or 980 meters, has a maximum rate of climb of 3,700 feet or 1,128 meters per minute, and a minimum landing distance of 2,590 feet or 790 meters, all while maintaining a maximum payload of 1,510 lbs or 685 kg, and a fullfuel payload of 514 lbs or 233 kg.

7:18 Purchase and Charter Price
The base purchase price for the M2 Gen2 is $6 million before options, and the charter price ranges from $2,500 to $3,200 per hour.

7:30 Operating Cost
While the total fixed cost is roughly $250,000 to $300,000 per year, the average hourly operating cost is estimated at $1,800 to $2,300.
