Etretat, France A Landscape of Inspiration From Emmy Award winning PBS series Landscapes Through Time with David Dunlop (Program 107, Season One) (English Subtitles)
We would love for you to Subscribe to our Channel.
David visits the majestic white cliffs rising out of the sea at Etretat, France on the Normandy Coast. He discusses their role in the inventive periods of French painting from the romanticism of Delacroix, the realism of Courbet to the Impressionism of the late 1860’s through the 1880’s. On a rainy day on the beach, David then explores these themes and colors in his own in his oil sketch demonstration overlooking these famous and historic cliffs.
David then works with his talented fellow artist Loretta Dillman to discuss her oil painting of the adjoining cliffs at Etretat. Please note that Loretta gave her consent to David for the discussion about her painting and for David's comments in paint on the actual painting. We hope that you enjoy the northern coast of France with David!
