The 2.0 version of Marlin brings a lot of improvements and supports a ton of controllers. In this video, I show you how to set it up and adapt it to your printer using PlatformIO, proudly featuring my Anet A2+ printer with its Anet board.

PlatformIO is a development environment, supporting a ton of different platforms/controllers/environments, and allows you to use your favorite hardware/OS/software. In the video, I install it to Visual Studio Code as an extension.

You can set up Marlin 2.0 on 8bit AVR boards using Arduino IDE as well. The process for the Anet board is basically the same as with Marlin 1.1.x (I verified), so check out my other video for more information:    • Anet A8 Marlin Firmware  

Although I show the process specifically for my Anet environment, the process should work for many more machines as well.

** Anet board additional information **
If you have an Anet board, the default PlatformIO config as shown in the video is not properly configured. It is generally not an issue, but if you're scraping on the top of the available memory (talking about using more than 98%), it could become one: Either the upload will just fail, or the board will even get bricked to a point where you'd need to flash a new bootloader (happened to me).
Editing the platformio.ini file helps in this case, check out the thread of the pinned comment for more info!
