Installing Timing Chain Guides in an Air-Cooled Porsche Engine Block

Klassik Automotive Training School

As we continue to add parts to our 1969 911T magnesium engine case, it is time to add the timing chain guides.
In the block, there are 4 timing chain guides, 3 black, and one brown. The brown one goes on the lower right side only. If you used all brown guides you would risk too much slap in the timing chain.
There is a method to load the guides the right way, but it is easy to do and to check your work before you move on.
Do not forget the copper seal rings on the specialty guide rail bolts.
