Welcome to our channel! Today, we're diving into the world of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) – a condition that can cause numbness, tingling, and pain in your arms and hands.

What is Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS)?

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome is a medical condition where the nerves and blood vessels that serve your arm are compressed as they pass through the narrow space between your collarbone (clavicle) and your first rib. This compression can lead to a range of uncomfortable symptoms.

Common Causes: TOS can be caused by various factors, such as:

Anatomical Variations: Sometimes, people are born with an extra rib or an unusually tight space in the thoracic outlet, which increases the risk of TOS.

Repetitive Movements: Certain professions or activities that involve repetitive arm and shoulder movements can contribute to TOS.

Injury: Trauma, like a car accident or a fall, can also trigger TOS symptoms.
Poor Posture: Slouching and poor posture can lead to muscle imbalances that exacerbate the condition.

Symptoms: TOS often presents with:

Numbness or tingling in the fingers and hands.
Weakness in the hand or arm.
Pain or discomfort in the neck, shoulder, or arm.
A cold sensation in the affected arm.
Hand or arm swelling.

Understanding the causes and symptoms of TOS is the first step toward managing it effectively.

In this video, we'll break down what Thoracic Outlet Syndrome is and demonstrate four exercises to help alleviate your discomfort:

1⃣ Scalene Stretch: Learn how to stretch the muscles in your neck and alleviate pressure on the nerves causing TOS.

2⃣ Median Nerve Glides: We'll show you how to gently mobilize the median nerve, reducing tingling and numbness in your arms and hands.

3⃣ 1st Rib Mobilization: Discover an exercise to free up the first rib, which can sometimes compress the nerves and blood vessels.

4⃣ Pec Stretch: Ease muscle tension in your chest area, a common contributor to TOS.

Understanding and managing TOS can be challenging, but with these exercises, you'll be well on your way to feeling better.
