Cons

Heat Damage ( Most flat irons range of temperature settings are 300450). It is generally thought that high heat on wet hair causes more damage, however the instyler claims it prevents heat damage with its design.
Risk of burns from the exposed barrel part
For curls it is easier to use a regular curling iron than try to maneuver this device
