On July 10, 2024, VIA Rail Canada unveiled a special and unique train for its new fleet in the Quebec CityWindsor Corridor: Lumi.

This train is painted in a yellow monochrome livery, recalling one of the first trains operated by VIA Rail, the UAC TurboTrain. Only one Siemens Venture trainset will feature this unique livery that calls to the past and looks towards the future!

In this video, we explore the design of Lumi and the inspiration behind it. We also have the opportunity to hear from the experts at VIA involved in the concept, design and execution of the new fleet project. These new trains represent a major evolution in the quality of the passenger experience, with improved accessibility for all, a more productive space, and improved comfort throughout.

These new trains mark the start of a new chapter for VIA Rail Canada, by replacing rolling stock that has reached the end of life on Canada's busiest and most popular routes. In addition, VIA has started the process to replace all their trains serving the longdistance routes, which cover the country from one ocean to the other. We are very eager to hear more details on this important project that will take place over the coming years.
