PC Biochemistry

In this lesson of Introduction to Nucleic Acids, Nucleosides and Nucleotides provides a basic introduction of nucleic acids. Nucleic acids such as DNA and RNA are made up of nucleotides which contains a phosphate group, a pentose sugar and a nitrogenous base. Combination of a sugar molecule and a nitrogenous base form nucleoside. There are two forms of nitrogenous bases, purines (double ring) and pyrimidines (single ring)

List of topics covered in this lesson,
1. Introduction to nucleic acids
2. Difference between DNA (double stranded ) and RNA (single stranded)
3. Introduction to nucleotides
4. Composition of deoxynucleotide and ribonucleotide
5. Different types of nitrogenous bases: Adenine, guanine, thymine, cytosine and uracil
6. Purines and pyrimidines rings
7. Introduction to nucleosides
8. Nomenclature of nucleosides and nucleotides
