Inverse hyperbolic cosine [cosh^-1(x)] as a logarithm

In this video, we find the conventional expression for the inverse hyperbolic cosine function via the definition of hyperbolic cosine.


First, we let the function...


y(x) = cosh^(1)(x)


Thus...


cosh(y) = 1/2(e^y + e^y) = x, for which we solve for y.
