Buying a fixer upper can be a very rewarding experience, but only if the numbers make sense. There are some markets where fixer uppers sell at a significant discount to the market place while in others, there is virtually no difference. No matter what market you are in, if you are considering a fixer upper, it is extremely important to make sure you are using a highly qualified buyer's agent AND you have the property inspected prior to purchase. Without those safeguards, you can get yourself into a very bad situation.
