Boeing and Airbus are no strangers to taking risks. After all, designing a new plane is an inherently risky endeavor. Doing so can cost tens of billions of dollars, and there’s no guarantee you’ll recoup that investment.

But recently, the two companies have taken a risk so great that it could jeopardize their business. Both have opened production facilities in China, and in doing so, they could be placing trade secrets in the hands of a hostile actor. Everyone knows that China wants to challenge the Boeing Airbus duopoly, and now, they have a frontrow seat to how these companies actually build their planes. So, why is this happening?
