Who is Fender Play For?

We ask is it tailored towards beginner guitarists, intermediate guitarists or advanced guitarist and who is it best suited towards? Is there enough within this course for each level of guitarist or do Fender target it towards people of a particular ability?

What we find here is that currently Fender are aiming their course material at beginner guitarists and laying the correct foundations by learning how to strum the guitar, how to learn scales, how to read guitar tab and chords.
Its a great idea and if you are a beginner then you are in luck. I believe that Fender are going to improve their course material as time goes on by adding more material for the intermediate guitarist and then the advanced guitarist and they should already have a suitable subscription base with the beginner guitarist that they stick around and continue with what Fender Play has to offer.

Is Fender Play Good For Beginners?

Indeed it is, in fact it is ideally suited toward beginner guitarists, and complete novices. Unfortunately I don't think that there is much here currently for the intermediate guitarist or beyond as the course material that they provide is very basic, but it's done very well. As I explain in this video, I'm a self taught guitarist of over 25 years and with all self taught guitarist we pick up bad habits which had this been around when I started I would have learned correctly and not needed to relearn certain aspects of the guitar later on. So if you want to teach yourself the guitar with Fender play then jump right in, its a good start.

Does Fender Play Work?

It will work perfectly fine if you are just starting out, if you are a beginner guitarist. I found personally that there wasn't much here for me, there are 5 skills levels on Fender Play and I found myself jumping straight to level 5 and still not getting anything out of it. I would like to see them add more advanced lessons and few more genres. Once you've learned the foundations such as your scales, fingerpicking, chord changes etc then you need to jump onto YouTube to learn some songs as the songs here are a little dated in my opinion.

How Much Does Fender Play Cost?
