The 2023 Chery Omoda 5 launched to media earlier this year to high interest, as it signalled the Chinese brand's reentry to the Australian market. But things didn't exactly go to plan, as the new small SUV had some niggling issues.
Specifically, among other things, the Kia Seltos rival's steering assist system wasn't up to the safety par, so much so that Chery updated the Omoda 5 locally before customer deliveries actually began and this is our first taste of it.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Journalist Chris Thompson spends a week with the updated Omoda 5's flagship EX variant to see if it steers better than it did when we first encountered it. He also delivers his overall verdict on the crossover, which could become a familiar sight soon.
