5040 is one of the few mountains on Vancouver Island that never received an official name, instead its name is derived from its altitude. This hike has blown up over the last couple years and judging by the easy access and all the surrounding views, it's understanding to why it is such a beloved hike. Add in a gorgeous glacierfed lake and a modern Alpine Hut near the peak, this hike has everything you want to get a full understanding of what makes British Columbia known as "Beautiful BC".
