Israel has released the director of a Gaza hospital after he was held for seven months without being charged, over allegations that the facility was being used by Hamas militants.

Mohammed Abu Salmiya claimed that he and other Palestinian prisoners were tortured while they were in detention.
The decision to release him sparked a bitter row inside the Israeli government while prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed the High Court and ordered an inquiry.
