Part 1 / 3
Is the insightful story of my family's unending ordeal caused by the European Schengen Tourist Visa granted to us in India by the Embassy of Slovakia.

For our holiday in East Europe due to Appointments just not opening at Hungary, Austria or Czech Republic in the summer of 2022 we ended up applying via Slovakia.

The Slovaks issued a Schengen visa that was exactly from the Date of Arrival to the Date of Departure only not even a day extra! On top of that, it was "Single Entry"

Also, the world's most unprofessional airline, Wizz Air preponed its flight now landing 5 minutes before midnight of the day the Schengen visa was starting from!!

On the day of travel, first, we were not allowed by Indigo Airlines to board from New Delhi to Dubai citing the invalidity of our visa even if for only 5 minutes until midnight.

Then, when somehow we managed to reach Dubai the same day on Air India flight (fresh spot ticket booked) we were denied to make transit from Arrival to Departure of Dubai Terminal 2, citing "Wizz Air is among the few airlines that do not allow any Transit passengers & transit baggage"

This was unheard of. The godforsaken unprofessional airline never even intimated us about this strange rule.
We didn't have UAE Transit Visa hence could not exit Immigration to collect our baggage. Even wasted EUR 90 on "Marhaba Service" On Arrival visa which is actually only for those India Passport Holders who also have a USA visa stamped we didn't.

With baggage retrieval clearly out of question, had to reach the Wizz Air boarding gate for Dubai Budapest flight anyhow, leaving our baggage behind.

Once at the boarding gate somehow, a new, unexpected shocker slammed us. We were again denied boarding by Wizz Air second time within 12 hours citing "Schengen Visa is issued by Slovakia. So you must land in Slovakia only. You can not board the Dubai Budapest (Hungary) flight"

Our counter argument "Of what use is Schengen Visa for Schengen Euro Zone then? It is determined by the country you are spending most days in during your trip not the port of entry!"

But the ignorant, arrogant Wizz Air (3rd party payroll) staff heard nothing & didn't let us board.

We spent the entire night with our 4 year old daughter requesting transfers between Dubai airport's Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 (without our bags). Pegasus Air officials said the same thing after checking out our visas "you must land in Bratislava, Slovakia only no other European city."

Then we thought of changing our holiday travel plan entirely. "Which countries allow Indian Passport holders to come in, without a preVisa?"
Thailand, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Russia, Serbia,... SERBIA!!

Serbia is a neighboring country to Hungary just like Croatia, Austria & Slovakia are. Why not go to Belgrade (capital of Serbia) & then attempt entering Hungary via the land border (bus / train)?

So we booked spot tickets on FlyDubai airways from Dubai to Belgrade for 9am that morning.

FlyDubai staff assured to get our baggage to Belgrade (from Dubai T2) provided we paid EUR 100 upon landing in Belgrade at the Lost & Found service of the airline counter.

But yet again, we were denied boarding until we produce return tickets from Serbia to Dubai / New Delhi. So we booked the expensive (cancellable) return tickets as well from Serbia in spite of the fact that Indian Passport Holders can stay visafree in Serbia for 30 days straight!

What happens next? Does this neverending ordeal for the family out on vacation even have a happy travel as per the original itinerary of visiting Budapest, Prague & Vienna?
