It Took Over $8000 Worth Of Track To Make This Huge G-Scale Model Train Layout!

I decided to create my largest model train layout of all time, which required about 1000 feet of Gscale track in order to lay down 3 parallel sets of tracks all the way around my back yard. Thankfully, I had enough track on hand to get the job done... but only just barely! At current prices, this amount of track would actually sell for about $8,500.

Running on the layout in this new model train video is the Santa Fe Super chief passenger train, the Coca Cola Train, and a BNSF freight train.

In the voiceover, I mention that the model train equipment shown in this video cost in excess of $10,000. That was actually quite an understatement, given the fact that the Santa Fe Super Chief (including all the rolling stock) cost about $2000, the Coca Cola train was almost as expensive, and the BNSF freight train with all the freight cars was probably not too far behind that. So, the trains alone cost in excess of $5000... 1000 feet of track sells for about $8500... and the control system and power supply cost somewhere around $500. So, the actual cost of the model train equipment was probably more like $14,000!

This video was shot and edited in 4K, except for the short clip I used at the :30 second point of the video... which was shot with an old GoPro that maxed out at 1080p. For highest quality viewing, watch the video on a big screen, if possible... and be sure that your YouTube playback resolution is set at 4K.
