Sky News host Alan Jones says it was “heart breaking” to see the Queen all alone, bidding farewell to her husband of 73 years.

“Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh has been laid to rest, in what Royal watchers have called a ceremony which honoured his legacy of service to Crown and country,” Mr Jones said.

“The occasion was full of the usual pageantry and appropriate deference to the monarchy.”

Mr Jones pointed to one feature which was “difficult to comprehend”, that being that under social distancing rules mourners had to sit apart from one another and in household groups.

“It was heart breaking to see the Queen,” he said.

“Head bowed, almost draped in black with a black mask, hiding her eyes behind her hat, fiddling with her order of service, but all alone, bidding farewell to her husband of 73 years”.

“Even the Queen of England, the monarch, is a human being before she is a Queen.”
