ITV1 - Saturday 29th July 2006 - Continuity and commercial breaks

Follow
KWJiBo Archives

It's Saturday 29th July 2006, and in cricket, the Sri Lankan pair of Mahela Jayawardene (having failed to break Brian Lara's Test runs record) and Kumar Sangakkara broke a new partnership record of 624 runs between them – a record that has not broken since (as of the time of composing this description on 27th July 2019).

Meanwhile, over at South Bank of the Thames. There was a change to ITV1's schedule. They were supposed to be showing the second episode of the reality game show It's Now or Never, in which a woman attempting to perform a dance routine based on 'You're My Best Friend' by Queen for her friend who's about to turn 40 while battling cancer. Unfortunately, due to poor ratings after the first episode, ITV decided to axe the show immediately and replaced it with a special edition of It'll Be Alright On The Night, which was first shown in the previous year as part of ITV's golden jubilee celebrations. The aforementioned second (and, as it turned out to be, the final ever) episode of It's Now or Never was eventually shown at the back end of the year – the 30th December to be exact!

Anyway, here are the commercials and continuity bits show before, during and after IBAROTN in the Granada region:

Then after the closing credits (with the plastered endcap), we see Sir Trev appealing viewers to vote for Ant & Dec as Entertainment Presenters at the National Television Awards, again! Did they win? Of course they did!
