In this video, you will UNDERSTAND the BASICS of Fluid & Electrolytes which includes Isotonic, Hypotonic, and Hypertonic fluids. We also discuss what medical conditions they are used for, as well as the contraindications.

Our fluid & electrolytes change every day, but it is important to maintain an equal balance in our intra and extravascular compartments. Being that Water (the most important and vital element our body) acts as a solvent, lubricant, and maintains our blood volume.

Here are the 3 types:

1. Isotonic Solution = Normal Blood Cell
2. Hypertonic Solution = Shrunken Blood Cell
3. Hypotonic Solution = Swollen Blood Cell (think of hippo)
