こんにちは! Fleet Histories is a series where we take a look at the operational history of aircraft fleets both active and retired. Passenger airliners are normally featured, although freighter and government aircraft will be covered occasionally. This series was inspired by the videos of elmauriplatense, Ibirdball, Scaring Crab, and many other aviation Youtubers.

Despite somewhat poor sales during its first few years, Japan Airlines recognized the potential of the 747's freighter variants for increased income from cargo services, especially the 747200F. The first aircraft was delivered in 1974, although largescale use of the type wasn't frequent until the early80s. One aircraft became notorious for reporting a UFO sighting over Alaska in 1986. The airline later introduced the more advanced 747400F in the early2000's and conducted one of the first BCF conversions for passenger 747400s. Dedicated freighter services ended in October 2010, although JAL still continues to conduct cargo activity in the cargo decks of their passenger aircraft.
