Japan scrambled fighter jets after a Chinese military aircraft "violated" Japanese airspace, the defence ministry in Tokyo said on August 26. Tokyo said it launched "fighter jets on an emergency basis" after a Chinese jet “violated the territorial airspace off the Danjo Islands in Nagasaki Prefecture”. The "Y9 intelligencegathering" aircraft entered Japanese airspace at 11:29 am (0229 GMT) for around two minutes, the Japanese defence ministry said. Meanwhile, Another incident transpired near the Sabina shoal, just a day after Philippines and China traded blames over two vessels colliding in the region. Manila accused a Chinese aircraft of making unsafe manoeuvres against a civilian aircraft conducting patrols over the Scarborough shoal and Subi reef.
