Dr. Jay Stock is a Professor of Anthropology at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. He was previously a Reader in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Cambridge, and Director of Studies in Archaeology and Anthropology at Downing College, Cambridge. His early research focused on the relationship between habitual behaviour and skeletal morphology among late Pleistocene and Holocene huntergatherers. More recently his work has focused on the longterm influences of transition to agriculture on human populations, the application of life history theory in bioarchaeology, and the study of living humans to better understand energetic tradeoffs in the past. His research is theoretically framed by the extended evolutionary synthesis, and more specifically interested in the influence of cultural change on human biology.

One of SIAH's International Visiting Fellows for 20232024, to create and support connections between colleagues, and to enrich the interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange culture at University of Southampton.
