J.Brahms Piano Quartet No.1 in G minor, Op.25 4th movement


‘브람스의 스승인 슈만이 죽던 해에 작곡되기 시작한 이 작품은, 초연 당시에는 장황하고 어려운 전개, 그리고 곡 전체를 지배하고있는 어둡고 음울한 분위기 때문에 청중들과 비평가들의 관심을 끌지 못했다고 전해집니다. 하지만 1937년도에 작곡가 아놀드 쉔베르크가 오케스트라 편성으로 편곡을 하면서 차츰 그 진가를 인정받게 되었고 브람스의 피아노 4중주 1번은 오늘날 가장 널리 사랑받는 실내악 곡 중 하나로 자리 매김 하게 되었습니다.

그 중에서도 저희가 연주한 4악장은 브람스 특유의 깊고 애잔한 아름다움과 격정적인 집시풍의 춤이 잘 표현된 곡으로, 특히 피아니스트들에게는 기교적으로 다소 까다롭고 도전적인 곡으로 알려져 있습니다.

빠르고 격정적인 집시풍의 론도와 흐느끼는듯한 현악기들의 선율이 적절하게 어우러져 듣는 내내 긴장감을 늦출 수 없는 이 곡을 앙상블뮤젠과 함께 느껴보셨으면 좋겠습니다.’

Johannes Brahms began writing this piece in the year of his mentor Robert Schumann’s death. When the piece was first released, it did not receive a welcoming reception because of the abstract development, dominating sense of darkness and obscurity that persist throughout the piece. However, Arnold Schoenberg brought this work to public attention in 1937 when he made the orchestral arrangement version. Since then, the original quartet version has become one of the most beloved chamber music pieces of all time.

The fourth movement in particular, reflects his peculiar depth and weeping sorrow along with the passionate gypsy style. It also requires extremely challenging techniques for pianists.
