John Harrison may possess one of my favorite villain themes of all time. Even though his motif is only 6 notes, they convey so much emotion with so little. His theme is quiet, emotional, and somber, representing his own grief and loss. But it can also be powerful and domineering, commanding the scene with it's sheer menace. Harrison's theme includes dissonant electronics to portray the alienating mystique of the character, with a repeating synth sounding musical pattern being used to portray the man as calculating and persistent. But even that speeds up, and moves at a faster tempo once Harrison's own fright and terror take center stage, all crescendoing with big, grand theme statements. Harrison's theme is complex and emotionally rich, but even though it can be used for a variety of different emotions and feelings, there is always an underlying sadness and remorsefulness underneath it all.
