John Lyons is the ABC's Global Affairs Editor.

From 2008 he spent six years in Jerusalem as Middle East correspondent for The Australian.

John has interviewed previous heads of Israel's intelligence and government, Hamas officials and ordinary Palestinians and Israelis.

He has returned to the region several times since October 7, 2023, to continue his reporting on the IsraelGaza war.
